The Psych Approach Clinic provides online psychology support for children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. We help with concerns such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationships, social difficulties, and parenting challenges. Sessions are currently offered via telehealth only, with weekday appointments from $190 and weekend appointments from $195. Clients can access services privately, through an eligible Mental Health Care Plan with Medicare rebates, or through self-managed and plan-managed NDIS funding.

What services does The Psych Approach Clinic offer?
We provide psychological support for children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. We work with a range of concerns including anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, social skills, bullying, self-esteem, anger management, relationships, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and parenting challenges.
Our therapy is tailored to the individual and may draw on evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, art therapy, trauma-informed therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, Islamic psychology, and parenting support.
Who can access your services?
Our services are available for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors, as well as parents and caregivers seeking support and guidance.
Do I need a referral to book?
No. You do not need a GP referral or Mental Health Care Plan to see a psychologist in Australia.
You are welcome to access our services privately. If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral from your GP.
What happens in the first session?
Your first session is an opportunity to explore your concerns, background, current challenges, and goals. This helps us better understand your needs and determine the most appropriate support for you or your child.
Appointments
Are you currently offering in-person sessions?
At this stage, we are currently servicing clients online only until further notice.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. All appointments are currently provided online via telehealth, making it easier to access support from the comfort of home.
How long is a standard session?
A standard counselling or psychology session runs for 50 minutes.
Do you offer weekday and weekend appointments?
Yes, we offer both weekday and weekend appointments, subject to availability.
Is online therapy effective?
Yes. For many clients, telehealth is an effective, flexible, and convenient way to access psychological support.
Fees and Costs
What are your service costs?
Our standard session fees are:
$190 per 50-minute session on weekdays
$195 per 50-minute session on weekends
These fees apply to our current appointment format, which is online/telehealth.
Are your fees affordable compared to standard psychology rates?
Yes. Our fees are below the Australian Psychological Society Schedule of Recommended Fees, which is currently $300 for a standard session, helping us keep support more affordable for our clients.
Do you offer bulk billing?
No, we do not offer bulk billing.
Do you accept concession, Health Care Card, TAC, WorkCover, or Veteran Affairs clients?

Medicare
Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
Yes. If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
How much is the Medicare rebate?
As of January 2024, the Medicare rebate is $93.35 for a standard 50-minute psychology session.
Can I still book if I don’t have a Mental Health Care Plan?
Yes. You can still access our services privately without a GP referral or MHCP.
How do I know if I’m eligible for Medicare rebates?
Please speak with your GP to discuss whether you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan.
NDIS
Do you see NDIS clients?
Yes. We work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS clients who would like to access psychological support aligned with their plan goals.
What are your NDIS fees?
For NDIS clients, fees are $232.99 per consultation per hour.
Are reports and letters included in the NDIS consultation fee?
No. Reports and letters are charged separately, depending on the length and level of detail required.
Can agency-managed NDIS participants access your services?
At this stage, our services are available for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.
Letters, Statements and Reports
Do you provide letters or statements?
Yes, in some circumstances.
Short letters or statements that take less than 15 minutes to complete can be provided at no additional charge.
What if I need a more detailed letter or statement?
More detailed letters or statements are charged at $40 per 15 minutes, rounded up to the nearest 15-minute increment.
Do you provide court reports or legal statements?
No. We do not provide letters, court reports, or statements for legal or forensic matters.
Are reports available for NDIS clients?
Yes. Reports and letters can be prepared for NDIS clients, however additional fees apply depending on the complexity and information required.

Do you support parents as well?
Yes. We work with parents and caregivers as well as children and young people, offering support, guidance, and practical evidence-based strategies.
Group Programs
Do you offer group therapy?
Yes. We offer evidence-based group intervention sessions, depending on availability and suitability.
How do group sessions work?
Group programs are designed around specific themes or areas of support and may run across several weeks or over a set number of sessions.
Is there a Medicare rebate for group sessions?
Eligible clients may be able to access Medicare rebates for group therapy sessions, depending on their referral and circumstances.
Privacy and Practical Information
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of psychological care. Information shared in therapy is kept private except where required by law, where there is a serious safety concern, or where consent has been given for information to be shared.
Can parents enquire or book on behalf of their child?
Yes. Parents and caregivers are welcome to contact us to discuss support options for their child or young person.
What if I’m not sure whether to book privately, through Medicare, or through NDIS?
We understand that this can feel confusing at first. Our team can help explain the available pathways and guide you towards the option that best suits your circumstances.
